Quirkiness Validated as Normal!

Just when I was feelin a little too quirky for letting y'all all in on my quirky personality traits in this post, it is confirmed that my beliefs about fairs and carnivals are justified and totally normal. I am not just antisocial to the old ladies with tatoos. I am right about the whisky drinkin carnival mechanics that are high school dropouts and runaways to the carnival. Check out this news story off of Fox news.

Florida carnival-goers made a daring rescue of a toddler Saturday night after it had been dangling from a ride after an apparent malfunction, MyFOXOrlando.com reported.

The mother, who was not identified, desperately clung to her child while suspended about 35 feet in the air on the “Crazy Bus” ride while horrified onlookers watched. When she lost her grip, people standing below the ride were able to catch the toddler, MyFOXOrlando.com reported. Later, firefighters rescued the mother with a ladder.

Neither the mother nor her child was significantly injured in the incident.

Witnesses said the mother and child were getting off the ride when it unexpectedly lifted back into the air, MyFOXOrlando.com reported.

First, I know this happened in Florida. If you look at a map Florida and Alabama are very close. In fact, the Panhandle of Florida, where we used to live, is tucked up under Alabama. People call it LA for lower Alabama. So, the same guys that put together the rides in Florida move to Alabama next week for our fair. Can't you just see old Bubba down there holding up his whisky bottle to that poor mama shouting, "Let that baby go, Mama, I'll catch her." He has a mullet, tank top and dirty jeans, and a big ol chew in his mouth. Who is going to the fair now, huh? Just remember I warned ya. If you still go, tell Bubba hi. Here is a photo of him.

Snobby Article

I was checking out the articles for this week on www.stretcher.com and they have an article titled How To Know IF Your Neighbor Is Wealthy. I read it and it says to just look in their driveway and see if they have a SUV. If they do they are not wealthy because they are so expensive to drive and maintain.... WHAT?! Are they serious? What a big long stretch of the imagination that has riled me up. We have a SUV. A YukonXL to be exact. We do not have a car payment and get a discount on insurance because of the safety of the vehicle.( If it is a chicken game between me and you in a small car- I win, that is what it amounts to.) Yes, it costs more in gas, unless we take two cars to church and on trips so we can fit in all the kids. Excuse me for liking to take the kids AND our ball equipment/luggage/groceries/whatever in one trip. I love my big auto because I have room for all of us and it is still comfortable. I just found the article rather snotty and one sided. We can afford our maintenance and gas and insurance. We also own a full size truck that is as bad on gas as the Yukon. Guess what? It is paid for also. We bought it from Mother in law at Christmas. It is a 2000 model with only 30,000 miles on it. I guess by the article we are poor stupid folks. In reality, we have 3 paid for cars, about 5 months emergency fund, and no debt. You cannot box people in and assume things by what they have in their driveway!

Burgess death

I am so saddened to hear of the death of Rick Burgess' son on Saturday. For those who do not know, Rick is the talk show host of http://www.rickandbubba.com/. The news said that Bronnor drowned in their pool on Saturday. That in itself is horrible but then to know that Birmingham received snow that day and that he probably fell in icy water just adds to the sickening feeling. We are in prayer for their family. I know that Rick is a Christian so know God will pour out His comfort on them and that they have a lifeline in Jesus to deal with this.
