Reupholstery Fabric Ideas

I am looking for an outdoor fabric to reupholster the table banquette seats and the built in sofa in the living room in the camper. I showed you yesterday what colors I want to use. I think that I may be leaning towards this lime green because then I can add a lot of print or solid pillows.

Redo of the Candlesticks

These candlesticks were originally black iron and I painted them offwhite in our last home. We had a very Tuscan bathroom. I had troweled on drywall mud to plaster the walls and painted a yellowy beige then I took a brown gel paint and brushed on and wiped around and off. It looked just like the walls at our Olive Garden and I loved it.

The off white did not show well against the green walls and all the accessories are black so I painted the candlesticks back to black. Now, in my previous post I told you that I broke the glass on the print. Well, I was carrying in the candlesticks and dropped one. It bent the top piece that holds the candle. I was trying to bend it back and the whole thing broke off. My husband says I can use something (forgot the name) that is like a weld glue for metal objects. So, I will do that and have three again.

Print: Before and After

I have had this print for about 15 years. For our women's retreat Ruthie Brandt did four canvas prints with verses that went along with our teachings for the weekend. The prints were placed on easels in different rooms. Everyone loved them so much that the church had lithographs made of the prints to sell to the members. Ruthie donated all the profits to our church building fund. I have not found a place for this in our new home mainly because the colors do not really go in our new home, but I do not want to get rid of it, so I decided to change it to work.
I took everything out of the frame, broke the glass (good thing I didn't clean the glass for the before photo!), spray painted the frame black, spray painted the mat beige and put everything back in. I am happy with it. I thought about a more cranberry/deep almost red mat, but I want our bath to be more green with black accessories and it would have drawn a lot more attention with the mat standing out more. I want the room to be very relaxing and calm instead of lively like we partay in the pottyroom.

MacKenzie Childs

I love MacKenzie Childs. The legs to the coffee table that I made into a headboardare rounded and shaped like the legs on this ottoman/bench.

I really want to paint them up with different colors and make a bench or ottoman with different fabrics. I can't decide if I would rather have it in the foyer or our huge closet so we would have a place to sit.. I have black and white ( MacKenzie's signature colors)tile foyer and it would look funky walking in. Or I could put it in closet so we would have a place to sit. But really, do you sit in your closet? I think I am leaning towards the foyer- especially how expensive fabric is.

Isn't this chest cool? I have an antique dresser that belonged to my great grandmother in the foyer. It is scratched on the top. I could paint it funky colors.

I love the colors in this demi ottoman. This is the colors of my bedroom, but not what I want for the foyer area

This garden ball is really cool. They also have birdhouses that are painted cool.

Painted Desk and Headboard

We have been busy today working on some projects around the house. My daughter is using the front living room as her bedroom. It has french doors seperating it and we are going to close off the wall between her room and the dining room. It is painted a brown and she is using turquoise as an accent color. We have only begun working on it so this is not the finished project, just a peek of what we got done today. The headboard is our old coffee table. It had one leg that we could not keep from wobbling no matter how much glue or nailing we did. We sanded it slightly and painted it. I found the paint in the OOPS section at Lowes. We then glazed it with a brown glaze to antique it
This old desk is one my husband brought home from work many years ago. It was painted brown when brown wasn't in. I painted it the green color and glazed it. It has been the best little desk. It is small enough to move around and fit in many different places. This is the before picture.
Today we sanded it and painted it with the same turquoise as the headboard and glazed it. We also painted a chair that we had. We are going to recover the seat on the chair.

Making it Perdy

We are still in the process of remodeling so have taken off all of the cabinet doors to paint. I found this shelf liner at Target. Love it. It makes looking at open cabinets of stuff much nicer.

Once a Marine Always a Marine

This photo is hard to see but , yes, that is my husband that has leaned a ladder on a MOVABLE platform on the scaffolding that is in the air. He is trusting a 15 year old to hold it for him. Attention spans on 15 year olds is not that long. Hubbie was in the Marine Corp and hung out of helicopters by a rope for fun and pleasure. I think that he has Desert War Syndrome or something. We have life insurance, but at this moment, not enough for him to die. I really need to call our agent tomorrow!

New chandalier

We are slowly getting our house painted and changing out the light fixtures. This past week we rented scaffolding so that we could paint the foyer. It has 18 foot ceilings with a tray on top of that. We got it painted and I applied a venetian plaster to the ceiling of the tray. It is Tuscany Tan, but the photo does not show the true color.

Do you like my new light fixture. In the old photo you see the original blue color of the wall and the old brass light fixture. I was going to paint the brass to a black and make due with the old fixture but my hubbie didn't like it. I am so happy we bought a new one, I love it!

I am adding a photo of my 8 year old on the scaffolding. All day he bugged us to get on the scaffolding. He made fun of me for being careful and said I was scared. We finally let the kids on the scaffolding and when he got to the top hubbie told him to stand up and he grabbed the railing and did this. Who is the scared one now?
