Sewing class projects

These are some of the items I am planning to teach the kids to make in the home school Friday classes. I will not do all the journal covers, these are just some of the ideas to choose from. I would like to add a skirt, but do not have a saved photo of one.

I would like the class to incorporate both sewing clothing items with fun items, and have also chosen some items that can be given as gifts. Many sewing techniques are used in the below items to teach them different sewing techniques and applications.

If you think your child would like to take this sewing class I will get together a list of items as I finalize exactly what will be taught. You can get a lot of material out of used sheets found at the thrift store or garage sale. Some of the items below will be made totally using the scraps from some of the larger projects. pillow with pom-pom fringe
Pajama pants. Either use new fabric or a recycled sheet.

Half skirt apron.

crayon roll.

bookmarks using fabric scraps

Memo pad cover.

tote

fabric broach pins made from fabric scraps. Can be worn on lapel, or pinned to a purse or tote.

Man those look so cool! Haley wants to take my sign language class, though. I would've been tempted to take her stuff, so it's probably a good thing she won't be in the sewing class.

I wish I could attend the class, I would love to know how to make some of those things!

I am relatively new to making things with fabric and I daresay once I get started all I will do is make is a big mess.

Are you doing online tutorials for these projects? I've been sewing a lot of little projects and would love to know how to make some of these things.

Oh my. I can usually resist the draw of one cute crafty-thing. And so far, I've resisted the urge to fix the sewing machine... this post just made that SO SO SO much harder to resist!! TOO MUCH FUN AND CUTENESS!

My 10 yr old son loves to sew. Do you have any suggestions of things he could do? I love your website.
