Trash to Treasure Lamps

This wasn't really "trash" but the lamps were not working in our new home. They blended in with the color of the walls. They were not cheap and new lamps are not cheap so I decided to add a little to them so they could live a little longer.

Above is the before photo.

I bought this set of Sophosticate Finishes in blackened bronze and blonde bronze. I bought it at Michaels. It was around $9 a bottle so it was not cheap. But, it is so easy to use.

I first painted on the blackened bronze with a foam brush.

Then, you highlight with the blonde bronze. I kept an old tee shirt nearby to wipe off excess and play with it. My lamp had a texture that when painted really showed. It is similar to a leather.

Completed lamp. I am not "crazy" for the shades. They are leather. I may redo them with a fabric one day, but my to do list is so long I am okay to wait on that project for the moment.

Head over to A picture is worth 1000 words to see more trash to treasure projects.

Wow! I'm so impressed with this lamp! I have a lamp that I don't like, and now I know exactly what to do with it. Thank you so much for sharing your idea and your lamp. Great advice. :-)

Hope you'll come visit my chairs. They were a curbside find. ;-D

Sheila... who loves your musical selection. Grace is AMAZING!

I love the change and the metallic look, you did a great job! I'm also picturing, in the back of my mind, how some day these lamps will end up in a garage sale or at Goodwill, and some other person will *update* them with a whitewashed Shabby Chic look ;-)

Please stop by my blog and pick up a free copy of my new cookbook, "Finish The Feast: Leftover Turkey They'll Love To Eat!" It's filled with yummy recipes and is suitable for printing and giving as a gift.

Hugs,

Victoria
