Drive By Madison, Alabama

Okay, all you people out there who think that people from Alabama are a bunch of hicks with couches on the front porch and trucks sitting on blocks in the drive way, I hope that this will prove that you need to come to Alabama and have some sweet tea and really see what it is like.

Madison is a suburb of Huntsville, Alabama. It is a very high tech area where most of the people are employed as engineers for all the companies that support Redstone Arsenal and Marshal Space Flight Center. Madison started as a farming community and there are still a lot of cotton farmers and cattle outside the city limits. There is even a cow pasture on the Arsenal which is really funny to see a bunch of cows on a military base. We have mountains- which are hills to you Rocky Mountain folks. We have lakes nearby. It is a beautiful place with the friendliest people in the world. Hope you enjoy seeing out town.

My house!

Take some photos of homes near you and leave a link at The Inspired Room by Monday. Then check out all the homes across the country next week on their site.

I know where you took those pictures! I think the front porch in picture 2 and the house in picture 10, which are the same house by the way, are the best house. ;)

O.k. you forget to mention that generally hicks have frigiators and warshers on the front porches as well! ha ha
Your home is lovely - the pictures you have displayed on your blog resemble homes in our area.
Thank you for sharing - it looks as if you had a great time taking pictures.

My folks live in Decatur. The Madison area has just exploded over the last 20 years, I must say. Used to be a stretch of n-o-t-h-i-n-g.

Beautiful homes! We lived in Madison when our first son was born. That would have been about 28+ years ago! We've moved a lot since then, but we're back in the south... not too far from you! Our family will even be in Huntsville for a couple of days later this week... following Daddy who'll be there on business.

Thanks for sharing!

Wow, those are certainly large homes, can't imagine cleaning them, but they are very pretty. I like the yellow bungalow the best!

Hi, I came here from the Inspired Room. Those houses are huge! I think there would be less than 20 suburbs in the whole of Australia where the houses are that big. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the drive-by of Madison! We lived there from 2000-2006 off Slaughter Rd. in Heatherwood (We now live in MI near Lake MI). I know where many of those homes are. I miss the area. Have a great day!

All of these are gorgeouse, but I think #6 is my favorite. I love older homes and that climbing vine along the wrap around porch is so pretty!

Thanks so much for the very sweet words you left on my blog! You are absolutely right, God uses all kinds of relationships to reveal more about himself to us!

Love your blog! Happy Wednesday!

Just found your blog, and I have relatives in Madison. It is a great area, and I love to visit Athens where my mom is from. Cute little town, and you have to go to Dub's Burgers when visiting.
