Kitchen almost after remodel photos

I have to get the real before photos off a dead computer. The cabinets were ugly early 90's oak with an orangy finish and exposed hinges. Hunter green counter tops. A basic faucet that was not tall enough to fit tea pitchers or large pots underneath. Brass handles. Large fluorescent light fixture. A fan over the table-a hunter green fan. Laminate flooring. Medieval curtain tiebacks with lacy curtains. The photo below is mid way through, but my closest before I have available at the moment.

midway through: we still had not put on the upper cabinets or replaced the counter tops from the hunter green laminate.

We still have lights, back splash, accessories, curtains and just tweeking to do to be an after.

Eat from the pantry

Sweet Jeanette has issued a Pantry Challenge for this week. I have a lot of food and have been trying to eat some of the older items before stocking a lot more, so it is perfect timing in my life to accept the challenge. The rule is that all you can spend is $5.

I went through my freezer and have made a preliminary menu for the week using items I have. Now, I am horrible at sticking to it, so it may change. This is more of a guideline and also to let me know we won't go hungry.

Monday
Breakfast-fritatta with squash, pepper, onion
Lunch- Ham sandwich, carrot sticks
Supper- grilled chicken, green beans from the garden, brown rice
Snacks- orange, apple, yogurt

Tuesday
Breakfast- biscuits with sausage
Lunch- black bean soup
Supper- Filet mignon, sauteed spinach, yellow squash
Snacks- apple, orange, yogurt

Wednesday
Breakfast- omelet
Lunch- tuna sandwich, carrot sticks
Supper- grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli
Snacks- apple, orange, yogurt

Thursday
Breakfast- pancakes
Lunch- Left over black bean soup
Supper- spaghetti
Snack- apple, orange, gelatin

Friday
Breakfast- scrambled egg with sausage, pepper, onion
Lunch- PB&J sandwich, carrot
Supper- king ranch chicken casserole
Snack- apple, orange, chocolate jello pudding

Saturday
Breakfast- apple turnovers
Lunch- left over king ranch casserole
Supper- Santa fe soup
Snack- apple, orange, oatmeal cookies

Sunday
Breakfast-eggs and grits
Lunch- left over santa fe soup
Supper- pork sirloin with gravy over rice, broccoli
Snacks- apple, homemade icecream with strawberries,

Garden 6/6/10

I didn't take a close up of the tomato bed, but have four tomatoes, two peppers, and two squash plants, onion bulbs, and then cucumbers on the arbor.

About to pick some green beans!

My herb pot. I cut it way back and dried the herbs so it could continue to grow.

In this bed there are green beans in the rear, okra in the front four rows and a squash. I have reseeded the okra and it just is not growing so I guess this pack of seeds was not any good. I have a few but not enough.

The front row are pink-eyed purple hull peas. The rear four rows are butterbeans.

I have more pink-eyed purple hull peas in this bed with pole beans on the arbor. I just harvested all my lettuce so I am ready to plant something else in this bed. I think I will get some more green beans.

Red Chest Before and After

I bought this chest at a garage sale for $15.00. It is very bland against the walls and also has a faux crackled finish that is kind of hideous, but I knew it could be saved. It sits by the garage door and everyone is supposed to put their shoes in it. Usually it sits here and shoes are scattered all around it.

The after: I painted a red and then glazed it with a black glaze. I am in love....

Check out my daughter in the bathroom. Funny how much of life you don't notice until you look at your photos. You find dust and clutter that in life you begin to ignore and don't even see it anymore. Not that I ignore my daughter, I knew she was in there, I just had no clue whatsoever that the camera was capturing her.

I want new accessories. These are all garage sale finds that are here until something better comes along. Some reason I want to shout Ole' with all those colors.
