My Valentine flowers

My husband gave me this bouquet of flowers on Valentines Day. They smell wonderful and are beautiful. This morning I noticed they are opened a lot more. Are they poppies? Can I plant the bulbs for future flowers? They match my picture on the wall. I could plant them and have a field of poppies are whatever they are. I could pretend I am in the Italian countryside since no one will take me for real life.

They make you Happy!!!!

I am pretty sure that is a tulip. It looks a little fancier because the petals look ruffled, but I don’t think poppies have stamens like that. And I think they have more petals. So maybe Holland instead?

Poppies are smaller and the petals are ruffle-ier than that. They look like Holland, just comparing the pictures on google.

They are tulips. You can plant the bulbs and they will bloom every spring. They are really pretty.

Thanks, everyone. I guess they are tulips, so I will plant them and tip-toe through the tulips. I can still pretend that I am in Italy, can't I- or do I need to pretend I am in Holland?

They are tulips. You can try planting the bulbs. However, a lot of flowers that are grown to be sold in pots like that are "steril" - meaning they won't "reproduce" after the initial blooms. Sad, huh?

You'll have to let us know next spring if your tulips were "fertile" or not! Ha ha!!!

Dawn- that is what I thought and why I asked the question. I bought hydrangeas that didn't make it and found out that you can't plant those that are sold at Mother's day. Thanks. I may try just to see.
