Fruit Punch Recipe

I forgot to give out the punch recipe in the last post! This is so good. We had some cokes (for non southerners that is an assortment of Sprite, Pepsi, 7Up- we call them all cokes and then ask you what kind you want) One guy kind of looked funny at the punch and said he wanted a coke. Later he tasted the punch and said it was really good and went and got a big glass because the little punch cups were too little. He kept going on about how good it is.

Fruit Punch:
1 large frozen can (16 oz) orange juice
20 oz can pineapple juice
12 oz frozen can lemonade
2 cups sugar
2 cups water- Plus
1 package koolaid( can use anything but grape, I always use strawberry)
Sprite, 7Up, or ginger ale

Combine sugar and water and heat to dissolve sugar- I did it in the microwave for 5 minutes.
Cool (I skipped that) and pour into an empty milk carton. Add the koolaid. Fill the jug up to about 2 inches from the top with water. Freeze. My mother in law said she has never frozen it. I always have because it makes it slushy rather than just juicy. Do it my way. The day of the party take out and let sit in the carton in your punch bowl to thaw. Cut open carton if it is still too solid. Add the lemonade, pineapple juice and orange juice. Pour Sprite, 7UP, or GingerAle over punch. I used about 1/2 bottle. We then took an ice pick and seperated some of the big solid pieces because I didn't get it out until three hours before the party. It turned out perfectly slushy.

Edit: Sunday we found the pineapple juice in the refrigerator and did not put it in the punch we made Friday. I never even tried the punch so don't know how different it tasted. So, people were asking for the recipe and saying it was good so you do not have to put in the pineapple juice to have a good punch. See, being non conforming to being able to follow a recipe does work sometimes. You be the judge on whether to add it. Can't go wrong either way. Oh, you can also add the whole 2 liter of soda if you need to stretch it some.

Hello! This punch looks so yummy...I'm a punch novice, so I have a couple of questions. Do you use a plastic gallon milk jug for the simple syrup, koolaid, and water? You say you use about half a bottle of pop, is that a 2 liter bottle? TY!

Love your blog! You are encouraging because you enjoy your home and family but you never pretend to be perfect. :) I appreciate how you like to entertain, how you always welcome your kids' friends and your friends. I feel the same way, the more the merrier. (Is this a Southern thing?) Sometimes that makes it a little more difficult to plan and be frugal and I appreciate your ideas. Thanks and happy new year. -- Annette, Louisiana

Anonymous- Yes, I use a plastic gallon milk jug to mix up the simple syrup- man, I should go back and add that- it sounds like I actually know what I am doing to use phrases like "simple syrup" :) And, yes, it is half a 2 liter bottle.

Annette- Wow, thanks. I can't pretend to be perfect because there is no hope:) I am the person that trips over NOTHING but I still turn to look at it anyway. I don't follow recipes so my family always laughs when it is baking and I say "I hope it comes out right because I didn't put in...." or " I added .... so I hope it tastes okay."

This punch looks scrumptious! Love the story about the guy who wouldn't try it and then needed a large glass...ha, too cute! I will try my best to remember you as a permanent post each week for TT. It wouldn't hurt though if you would send me a little reminder email, if you think of it. :-) I'll try hard to remember to include you every week, though. So glad you are joining in! :-) Please do let me know if you don't want to post one week so I'll just take you off the list for that week. Thanks again! Susan
