This was my dining inspiration

Before I had to give up my dining room, this was my inspiration of the look I was going to do in our dining room. I just thought I would share it with you so you can all sit a moment and cry for what could have been. I am much happier that we don't have a "dining room" but now have room for the kids and their friends. I still have dining area in the foyer. I am getting to decorate the kids game/media room. I just kind of felt that this was mostly all mine that I just shared with them. I could make it as girly as I wanted.

Our dining room in Florida was painted red. The kitchen was a Tuscany yellow. Both the rooms had wallpaper that tore the sheetrock to pieces when we took it down. I used drywall mud and applied it pulling it with a trowel. It left a plastered wall that took the paint and glaze and I loved the European look. I made a covered board valance in a cranberry red, yellow, and green plaid. I covered the chairs in a green striped fabric. All the accents are in the yellow and green. So, the dining room above was using those same colors. Oh well, I guess it is time to say good-bye to the dream. I will miss intimate candlelight dinners under your chandalier. I will have my daughter bring in fresh baked bread and special treats once in a while so you don't forget your roots.

Hi,

I just found your blog and I'm enjoying reading all of your post.

My former dining room is also painted red and I had pretty much the same intentions as you until my boys needed a place to put all of their things, so needless to say I now am the proud owner of a gameroom/playroom. Please keep us updated on how you decorate the space, I need ideas. Are you keeping the room painted red? I can't decide on painting mine a neutral color or leaving it red.

Take care,
Michelle

PS if you have time check out my bog.

It will be ok, one day it will be a dining room again.

Our dining room is currently one of those everything rooms! I have my table desk and chair, printer, large chest, toys, toys and did I say toys?
One our addition is complete, I want to change the dining room into a library. All of the toys will be in each child's room and the "desk" will be located in the kitchen.

I have seen pics of that exact dining room so often. It was also the inspiration for me. I made drapes with the same fabric. Sadly, I goofed on my wall color.
