Garage sale finds

We bought this from one of my husband's coworkers. We had a closet system that we bought but didn't like and she wanted it. We traded that (paid $100 for it) plus another $100.00 for this mower! It was manufactured in 2005 and kept in a garage.
We have twins! I thought this was funny how they grew together. I am getting a zucchini or yellow squash daily off of one plant of each. I have too many tomatoes to eat but not enough to really spend canning. Any ideas of how to freeze or put up about 5 tomatoes at a time?
We had to sell our shed per homeowners association. It was probably put in soon after the house was built and here when we bought the house. The association went into lidigation with another homeowner because all outbuildings are supposed to be approved by architectual committee and be built of the same brick as the houses. They said the person was trying to build a "barn." Because of the lidigation all previous sheds have to be removed so that it is not an issue. Before anyone comments negatively, we hate to lose our shed but really appreciate living in a neighborhood that has restrictions. Our association is not real picky and a pain to live under like some can be. We choose to live with restrictions because if you look at neighborhoods that do not inforce any you see the difference in what some people will do that really makes your neighborhood less valuable. When we removed the shed there were these possum skelatins under there.
I got these at a Gsale for $2.50. We have a portable grill that is great to take camping.
I got these boots and fishing basket to use a planters. I thought the fishing basket would look cute on a fence. And the boots will look cute on the patio table or by the door with flowers coming out of the tops.
A really wrinkled white linen dress for me.
A Ralph Lauren outfit for $.50. I am going to put this in the childrens mart or ebay it. I bought a RL button down for $1 one time and ebayed it for $8.
A pink polo for me to try. I don't know if it will fit. It is a guys so it might not be cut right. If it doesn't fit I will ebay it.

My boys would love the possum skeletons. They are always bringing things like this home. We just keep things like that in glass and wood boxes. The joy of having boys.

My favorite post of all...I love seeing yard sale finds. I posted my goods will things, but haven't gotten around to my YS stuff yet. I had to come visit after I read your post at Southern Hospitality. I laughed out loud since that is SO my house...five kids, smelly football stuff and laundry to kill the cute bunnies of all bunnies. I just started my blog and am excited to have found yours.

Hi,

why don't you make stewed tomatoes with the few tomatoes. They freeze really well. Or you could blanche them, remove the skins and freeze whole.

Coleen

PS I want to come yard sailing in your neck of the woods!!!

great finds there, fishing box shape is lovely, I haven't see one like that

love that linen dress, reckon that would look cutey layered over jeans, just my style, funnily enough I love white linen ;-)

on the tomatoes, I make an Italian pasta sauce, just stew up a load and shove it in the freeer in bags, so easy and cheap

Thanks for the great comment! I guess I had a typo - our FLAG was standing straight up in the air - ooopppsss. I guess I would have questioned flat as well. What the heck is a flat?

Reading some of your old posts, I forgot to ask if you ever ended up doing something with your table...did you paint it?

Dawn said...

Can I please go to yardsales with you???

And I agree with Jen... what did you decide about your table?

Southerner said...

Jen and Dawn, I have not done anything with the table yet, and I have not decided what I am going to do. We have been working on tiling and moving plumbing and lights in the Master bath and removing wallpaper and painting so it is down the line a little ways. I hope we can get the cabinet doors done when we finish the bath, and at that time I will be picking out the countertops and will have to decide on what to do with the table.

Hey, I have twins too! My father-in-law brought over a similar summer squash and I just can not bear to cut it up, it is so cute.

I have a bunch of animal skeletons in my basement. My 18 year old has collecting them since he was about 10. They are proudly displayed on a shelf down there, but sometimes I can not wait for him to find a new place for them to live. :)

I love all your great yard sale finds.
