Garden 2008

I finally started some seeds today so that we can have a garden this year. I started two different types of tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, cauliflower, marigolds, okra, thyme, basil, cilantro, spinach, lettuce, carrot, eggplant, snapdragons, astor, canteloupe, and cucumber. I have seeds for squash, zucchini, peas, green beans, and corn to plant outside later. I have never used the greenhouse starter above, so hope it works well.

I would love gardening tips. I have only had two gardens before. Our first garden was in a rental house and you could tell the soil had been used many years and was so nice and rich. We had fabulous growth and grew the best watermelon ever. We had a garden when we had 10 acres in the country. It was sand soil and although we brought in some topsoil and worked it in, it was not good soil. It grew good squash, peas and okra, and some corn, but we just did not plant enough to freeze anything. We never planted after that because I was always pregnant or something else was going on with my husband traveling with his job. But, for a girl that has never been around gardens growing up I really am interested in having one and learning more.

Hopefully, I will be able to post photos of how it progresses.
