Drive by: Huntsville, AL

I had to go to Huntsville today and was a little early so I had a chance to drive around the historic area and get a few photos. I just love all the architecture and history. Huntsville has one of the largest historic districs intact because the northern troops took over the homes instead of demolishing them during the civil war. This is one of the oldest buildings in Alabama. It was where some of the men stayed that came to Huntsville to draft the first constitution for statehood in 1819.

The homeowner had the blue panes put in because it was believed that if you sat in front of the window while the sun shone through it would cure arthritis.

  1. Wow! You folks have big! Houses don't believe me look at the tiny houses. We live in 480 sq ft. It takes creativity!

  2. Anonymous- these are huge. It is the historic era of the 1800 and 1900's where they had big houses. I think those tiny houses are so cool! now, don't put me in one with my 5 kids:) I love how they are so efficient and everything has two purposes. I do love the architecture of the old homes. The moldings are just beautiful.
